LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.
(by telegraph—own correspondent.) Auckland, Monday. It is expected that the bootmaker's strike will result in a general lock out. Mr Devore, the Mayor of Auckland, has returned from a visit to .Melbourne, Commandant Booth left by the mail steamer Mariposa to-day. The town is lively with crackers and fireworks to-night despite tho prevailing dampness. The Seamen's strike is not finally settled, as there are still some points to adjust with the Northern Company. A firm in Cardiff who purchased 3000 kegs of New Zealand butter last season have now sent a buyer to the Rangitikei district on their own account.
