MEND YOUR ROADS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Are the members of the Newcastle Road Board aware of the fact that a very dangerous culvert exists at Whatawhata, on the Waipa-Raglan Road. If they are not aware of it, I now tell them that such is the case. The wood work has rotted, leaving two large dangerous holes, either of them quite enough to smash up a horse that gets into them. Why cannnt they put in a set of pipes and make a good job of it onco and for all? An accident might cost ten times as much as the culvert. I notice also that the beautiful flat is rapidly getting over-grown with sweet-briars, and, in a couple of years from now, if not stopped, they will have full possession of one of the best bits of land in the valley. Is it any wonder our unfortunate country does not go ahead when local bodies are so lax in the performance of their duties ?— Yours truly, Constant Travblleb.
