PRESENTATION OF JUBILEE TESTAMENTS.
About two hundred children and fifty or sixty uf their parents and friends assembled in the large school at Cambridge at fwnr p.in. yesterday afternoon, the occasion being the presentation of the Jubilee Testaments to the scholars. The whole of the local clergy were present, and also Dr. Huoper. Archdeacon Willis, a.s President of the local branch of the Bible Society, occupied the chair. The meeting was opened with prayer by the Rev. W. Jivans, and the chairman then called on Mr U. W. Kussell to address the children, as he was the originator of the movement, which had spread all nver the colony. Mr Kussell, in a brief address, explained that it was to commemorate the 50th year of our Sovereign's reign, and referred to tlio many blessings enjoyed by her subjects under her administration. He trusted the Testaments would be the means of reminding the young people that they belonged to the empire over which Her Majesty luled and would also add to the bond of fellowship that exists between the inhabitants of New Zealand and the Old Country. He also referred to the moral and spiritual teachings of the Testament. The children were then called up, two by two, and presented with the books by the Revs. Kislnvorth and Griffiths. The chairman paid a spocial tribute of thanks to Messrs Brooks and Priestly, who had borne the burden of the work in connection with the movement. The National Anthem was then sung, and Dr. Hooper pronounced the benediction. The children then cheered heartily and dispersed.
