ARCHIDIACONAL CONFERENCE.

The quarterly session of the clergy and laity of the Church of Engl.iad in the Waikato archdeaconiy was held yesterday. The afternoon siderunt took place in the long room of the Waikato Times Buildings. There were present, Archdeacon Willis (in the chair) and the following clergy, Revs. E. J. Boler (Te Awamutu), J. Marshall (TeAroha), R. O'C. Biggs (Hamilton) and Dr. Hooper (Cambridge); laity, Messrs. E. Y. Cox, Howell and C. Ahier (Te Arohn), Messrs Seddon, Salmon, Cowper, Sandes and Losrie (Hamilton), Dr. Moon and T. Wells (Cambridge.) The proceedings were opened with prayer. A long discussion took place on tho advisability of establishing a central fund, from which the stipends of the clergy in the district should be paid. The principal speakers were Messrs Cox, Seddon, Wells, and Revs. Dr. Hooper and Boler. The conference then adjourned to the evening.

The visitors were entertained at a tea in the Public Hall, provided by the ladies of the parish, to which they did ample justice. A brief service took place in S. Peter's Church at 7 o'clock, which was well attended, and the Conference resumed its deliberations in the hall. Resolutions were passed, dealing with the following subjects which were brought up for discussion : —The observance of tho appoiutcd seasons of the Church; the objections to the Athanasian Creed ; and the necessity of proficiency in extempore preaching being a qualification for Holy Orders. It was decided to hold the next Conference at Cambridge. After the usual votes of thanks had been passed and the Doxology sung, the proceedings closed.
