Lord 0. Beresford declares it is essential to reorganise the British Admiralty and system of training for the Navy. The German Navy is to be largely increased. Dinizulu is reported to be still at large. Princess Louise of Wales is said to be betrothed to the Czarewitch. The Czar is making a tour of the Southern provinces of Russia. The English woollen trade is inactive, and prices are depressed ; no material rise in wool is expected. A hurricane has occurred in Cuba, doing serious damage. Tonnage is still scarce, and shipping shares are rising. September S. Mr Spreckles has given an order for the construction of two 18 knot steamers for the Australian-Hawaii trade The Prince of Wales will attend the Hungarian Army Manoeuvres to be held shortly at Bilovia in Croatia. Mr Pritchard Morgan has obtained a license to mine for gold over an area of sixty square miles in County Wicklow, Ireland. A charter has been granted to the Imperial British African Company formed for the purpose of developing fifty thousand square miles of country held by the Sultan of Zanzibar. The territory extends from the coast to Lake VictoriaNyanza. The Australians were beaten by Lord Londesborough's team by 155 runs.
