In the case of the child a verdict was returned that death resulted from natural causes. The Shipowners have expressed their willingness to arbitrate on the Northern Steamship Company dispute and nothing else. The Seamen's Union have called out the men on the Allnwarra Company'e steamers. This is the company that supplied the coal to the It. M'a Manposa. August 6. The statement of the Citizen that Lord Cirrington wishes to resign before the end of the year is authoritatively denied. M. Pasteur's agents commence experiments with the disease known as anthrax this week. There is little hope of settling the shipping difficulty. The shipowners have merely acknowledged the receipt of the last letter from the Union, regretting the position taken up by the latter. Melbourne, August 4. Four hundred ironworkers went out on strike to-day, demanding higher wages. The meeting of Judges is being held privately, but it is understood that tho i|itestion of a Federal Appeal Court for the iVustralssian colonies is being considered. August 6. The conference of judges has postponed the question of a Federal Court of Appeal, pending inquiries into the .working of the Appellate Court of Canada. Mr Gillies has decided not to appoint a Commission to the Paris Exhibition until Parliament passes the necessary vote of £10,000.
