The German, French and Austrian Courts promise to be the most picturesque divisions of the Exhibition. The New Zealand art collection has been arranged with considerable skill, but the private exhibits are notauything like ready. Communications have passed between the Premier and other Governments regarding the survey of the Pacific cable route. The Admiralty has consented to employ a second vessel. Victoria is willing to share the cost with Great Britain, Canada, and other colonies. Information has been received that Jones, one of the Australian cricket team, is suffering from small-pox. The contract for the manufacture of the third cable has already been entered into. Sydney, July 28. After consideration of Judge Win deyer's report on the Mount Ronnie case, the Minister of Justice states that he can sec no reason to interfere with the sentences passed. In his report the Judge expressed the opinion that Newman, Iveegan, and Mill, r were guilty. The Auckland brigantine Aratapu, bound from Tairua to Melbourne, with a cargo of timber, has put into Sydney in a disabled condition. Brisbane, July 2S. Messrs Thomas' and Mudden's store at Cooktown has besn destroyed by fire. It was insured for £10,000. An attempt was made last night to rob the North Queensland Bank, but was unsuccessful. The clerk fired at the burglar, and wouuded him.
