SUPREME COURT, AUCKLAND,

[by telegraph—press association.] Auckland, Wednesday. At the Supreme Court to-day, Hehi Ripihana, for indecent assault at Mongonui, was sentenced to twelve months and 25 lashes. William Smith, halfcaste, charged with horse stealing at Waihi on 23rd April was acquitted. Edward Howell, charged with stealing a horse, the property of Mr McKinnon, of Cambridge, was found guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy. Sentence deferred.
