A BOGUS COMPANY.
[liV TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Wednesday. The Bell, in an editorial note to-day, on bogus mining companies at the Thames, has the following : —"lt appears that a company has been floated in Australia, with a capital ot' nearly £100,000, to work a reef which exists only in the imagination of tiie wretched dupes who have purchased the sto;k. The ground negotiated lias never btvn prospected, but is in the vicinity of a rich find, the, name of which has been dovetailed into the title of the bogus company, the better to work the. swindle and the (lodge has had the desired efFeot. Tiie shareholders were presented with an assay report, but the st.ull assayed was tak en not from the company's unprospected lot, but out of the rich clai IU referred to adjacent. 1
