Sir,—ln my peregrinations through New Zealand I have always noticed that in the large townships, on all occasions of local importance, that all the most leading and influential merchants close their places of business, whilst I have observed the small pettifogging tradesmen keep open, which will in future have a detrimental effeot in the closing of the leading houses iu the town.—l am, &c, —- Observant Traveller.
