HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
A special meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Chambers ou Tuesday evening. There were present : His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Knox, Sandes. Salmon, Wood, Missen, Bell, Coates and Jones. After a lengthy discussion, during which several ways to meet Mr Vincent in the matter were brought forward, the Mayor moved that the council will undertake the necessary work in connection with Vincent's drain, upon the ratepayers interested contributing a sum equal to that contributed by the council.—Seconded by Cr. Sandes and carried. Texdkks. —Only two tenders were received for the clearing at the back of the saleyards, about four acres, viz. : —John Dixon, £2 IDs 6d ; Richard Dullicar, £3 17s 6d.—On the motion of Cr. Knox, seconded by Cr. Coates, the tender of John Dixon being the lowest, was ac ccpted. Hchdlks.—The Engineer said that already MrMcNiool had advertised about 1100 sheep for the opening sale in the Hamilton yards, while the yards only hold about 500, and he asked if the council would grant him permission to get a few extra hurdles made. Permission was granted, the cost not to exceed £3.
Saleyatui Rnr.ES. —Cr. Jones moved that a coipmitt.ee potisisting of Cr. Knox, Sandes, Coates and the mover he appointed to draw up rules for the conduct of sales in the borough yards, and report at the next meeting.—Seconded by Cr. Knox and carried.—Cr. Knox then moved that Ors. Wood, Jones, Coates and the mover be a committee to cousult with the engineer in reference to the opening of the yards.—Seconded by the Mayor and carrier). This being all the business the council rose.
