THE DIRECT MAIL SERVICE.

Tub New Zealand Company has obtained from the Postmaster General, permission to underlet that part of their contract providing for the conveyance of the Home mails from June next. The homeward service would be taken by the Shaw Saville and Albion Company's steamers, the day of departure being changed from Thursday to thesueeeedingSaturday. The first despatch being on 30th June next. The New Zealand Shipping Company, of course, will continue to perforin the serviae from Plymouth. The change has been asked maidy witli the object of being able to land meat cargoes at regular fortnightly intervals, instiad of having two shipments landing in London at the same time as is the case under tin; existing arrangements. The change will also bring about a regular fortnightly despatch from the colony.
