In his charge to the Grand Jury, Judge Richmond said the calendar was unusually lensjtliy, but with tho exception of two cases none were of great public interest. One is a child murder, which His Honour said >.v,is competent for a petty jury to bring in a verdict of concealment of birth. Tne other case was one of arson, in which one prisoner had turned approver. His Honour pointed out that an accomplice's evidence could not be received without being corroborated. The jury found true bills against Edward and William White for larceny ; Charles Hamilton, uttering a forged bill; John Askcy, larceny ; M. J. McCavanagh, embezzlement; Philip Wilderfrrce, false pretences ; Patrick Farrelhy, indecent assault, No bills: Alice O'Donnell, breaking cind entering. At the biipreme Court to-day, Richard White, arrested at Lyttleton and charged with stealing a yacht from here, was found guilty, sentence being deferred until the case against his brother James, who accompanied him, has been heard. Charles Hamilton pleaded guilty to forging and uttering a cheque for £27 10s. Remanded in order to receive report from the probation officer. Ellen Kuo.v, larceny of £5, was acquitted.
