Sir Henry Parkes, replying- to the dispatch of Lord Knutsford, Secretary of State for the Colonics, on the, Chinese question, urges that immediate steps should be taken by the Imperial Government to open negotiations wit'i China to prevent Chinese immigration to Australia. Sir Henry Parises says that if protection cannot be afforded to the Australian colonics, the Parliaments of the colonies must bow to public opinion, and themsebes devise some means to arrest the evil.
