—.—« (By Electric Tulegrai'h.— Coi'YUitiiiT.) Losiios, April 4. Tin-: police authorities have issucil instnictions to disperse all proclaimed meetings announced to be hi-ld on Sunday. It is feared that serious disturbances may arise, and the police will probably be reinforced. A large number of the poorer classes in Ga'way are in clanger of starvation, and in order to alleviate the distress provisions are being scut from all parts of the country. The Duke of Norfolk's mission to the Pope has failed, inasmuch as His Holiness declines to offer any opposition to the Irish National movement. The Right Hon. John Morley, speaking at Newcaatle-on-Tyne, 3aid the fortunes of the Liberal party were in a critical condition. Prince Bismarck has replied to Secretary Bayard, and mentions that the German Consul was compelled to take action and depose Malietoa, in order to protect the interest of German residents in the island. Forwood, Secretary to the Admiralty, speaking at Prescott, said the British Navy was now stronger than the navies of any two combined European Powers. The Mahdi is rallying the Soudanese and meditates an invasion of Egypt. The committee of the Maryleboue Cricket Club recommend that the number of balls in an over should be five. They also favour giving a bowler an unlimited right to chance ends when he pleases, but he should not be allowed to bowl two overs in succession. The Standard, in the cours , ; of an article to-day, asserts that the population is deserting New Zealand anil going to Victoria.
