RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, CAMBRIDGE.

Yesterday—(Before Mr H. W. Northcroft, R. M.) Several undefended civil cases were disposed of, and Constable Brennati reported that in the case of James Dogherty, the two sons, wiio had been summoned to support him, had offered to do so if their father would |*i> and live with them. This the old man declined to do. The case was therefore withdrawn. Robert Bradford Webber, who had been summoned at a former Court to support his father, had not paid anything into Court, as promised, and the case was again adjourned, for the police to get evidence us to his means. Hugh Call was charged with cruelty to a horse, by over-riding it. Accused pleaded guilty. The horse had been ridden from Te Awainutu to the trial of reapers and binders at Mr James Taylor's farm, Cambridge, on the loth inst., arid then into Cambridge, at a furious rate ; after which it was completely done up. Fined £10 and costs £1 Bs, or one month's imprisonment with hard labour. This was all the business.
