The Cambridge Junior Tennis Handicap was finished yesterday, the winner being Mr McDonald, who beat his two opponents, Hartley and Richjirdson very easily; to the former ho gave 15J, and to the latter 15J. One of the finest business places in Auckland is that of Mr W. G. Allen, at the corner of the Victoria Arcade building, where his show windows are a feature in Queen-street.. It is tho only soparator of British manufacture. We are informed on good authority that the following magisterial changes are about to take place:—Mr H. W. Robinson will bo transferred from Oainaru to Wellington ; Mr H. A. Stratford from Thames to Oamaru ; Mr H. W. Northcroft from Waikato to Thames, and Captain Jackson takes Waikato, with his prosent district. Mr Northcroft leaves Hamilton next jveek.

Mr James Hally made his debut as a solicitor at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Cambridge, yesterday, when he acted for Mr John Hill in a civil case.
Mr Northcroft, the Resident Magistrate, is determined to make a severe example of cases of cruelty to animals. At Cambridge, yesterday, he inflicted a fine of £10, and costs £1 Bs, on a Hugh Call for over riding a horse.
Major Wilson will deliver a lecture in the Public Hall, Cambridge, on Monday, and as musical selections and a farce will also form part of the evening, a large audience should assemble to hear the gallant lecturer.
Another disgraceful scene took place in the Sydney General Assembly ou the 23rj inst. Mr Dibbs accused Mr Garrett, the Minister of Lands of being blind drunk, and so exasperated the Minister that the latter attacked his tormentor with a water-bottle. Oaths and accusations had previously been indulged in.
Among the tenders opened at the Waikato County Council meeting yesterday, was one from Pokeno, for contracts No. 21 and 22, to which the tenderer had omitted to sign his name, and consequently the tender was informal. This is to be regretted, as being the lowest tenderer, he would probably have obtained the contract, and have saved the county a considerable sum.
After enduring great suffering from the dreadful accident which lacerated his body and inflicted severe internal injuries, Mr F. G. Thomas died at twelve o'clock on Thursday night at the District Hospital. From the time tetanus set in there were no hopes of his recovery. There will be no inquest, as the coroner is satisfied as to the cause of death certified to by J Jr. Kenny. The funeral takes<place at 2.30 p.m. co-morrow.
