THE PROPOSED HAMILTON CATTLE YARDS.
A meeting of the cattle sale yards committee of the Borough Council mot last night to receive the report of the subconimitte, consisting of Messrs Knox, Barton and Von Stunner, which was appointed to take the initiative steps for the preparation of plans, &c, of the proposed yards. There were present at last night's meeting the Mayor and Crs. Knox, Wood, Salmon, Missen, and Von Stunner. The Engineer was in attendance. The Chairman stated they had enga?ed the services of Mr Sandes as Engineer to inspect the sale yards at Ohaupo, and prepare suitable plans and specifications. Mr Sandes reported that ho had visited both Messrs Buckland's and Hunter's yards, and in company with Mr W. Higgiuson had inspected them in detail, ascertaining defects and matters in which improvements could be made. He laid plans and specifications on (be table of yards which would accommodate 500 head of cattle, the cost of which, including ground work, &c, would not reach £300. The matter was thoroughly discussed in detail, and on the motion of Mr Von Stunner, seconded by Mr Salmon, the report and plans \#ere adopted, and the chairman was instructed to report to the Council on Tuesday evening to this effect, and to recommend that the work beat once proceeded with.
