SWIMMING : LAKE V. RIVER.
TO THIS EDITOR. Sin,—After the swimming race display held yesterday 011 the lake (and that too with a heavy wind blowing), I feel sure that 110 one with a grain of common sense will ever think again that the river is the proper spot for aquatic sports in Hamilton. _ "The proof of the pudding," etc., comes in heie, and the general public, who invariably aie the best judges in these matters, have certainly decided the thing by their attendance yesterday, and their evident appreciation of the programme. The numbers present yesterday were certainly ten to one in favour of the lake as against the river.— Yours, etc., Swimmer.
