ALEXANDRA.

Harming Notes. —The fine weather we have lately experienced has been must beneficial to the farmers in this vicinity, the crops and grass paddocks having a most promising appearance. At Te Rure particularly the farms are much improved; those of Messrs Hudson and Hall wou'd compare favourably with any part of the Waikato district.

Maori Loyalty. —Only at Whatiwhatihoo was any holiday observance of the Prince of Wales’ Birthday. There our native friends fired off a quantity of powder, not so much on account of the Prince’s Birthday, as that the Dtli was also the anniversary of the death of To Tawhiao. Return of Tawhiao.— Tawhiao is expected here to-day. As he has been absent for a considerable time, a feast is being prepared for him to welcome bis return. As he is at Kihikihi, it is expected the old chief Rewi will accompany him.

Native Land Court Vagaries.— Great disapprobation is expressed by the natives interested at the Government having determined that the Native Lands Court, to adjudge the ownership of the lands taken for the Main Trunk Railway, should be heard at Cambridge, near where none of those interested reside. It is thought by them (and justly so) that the Court should bo either at Olorohanga or Alexandra.
