Local Scouts. A number of persons interested in racing matters assembled at tha Hot Springs Hotel on Tuesday evening to discuss tile preliminary arrangements for a day’s sport before the close of the current year. The question of ways and means was fully considered, and the financial position being fairly satisfactory it was resolved to hold a meeting on I'Tiday, December 33rd, when a sum of about £l2O will be available for the several races. The committee will meet this evening in the Club Hotel, and the programme of events for the day will then be drawn up.
Prince of Wai.es Birthday.— The Prince of Wales birthday passed over without any exuberant display of loyalty. A few of the business places were closed, and in the public ollices it was observed as a close holiday. In the afternoon there were two or throe boat races, and the day being line a good few persons were attracted to the river side. At Waiorongomai an entertainment was given in the evening in connection with the Church of Hnglaud, and passed of very successfully.
Resident Magistrate's Court.—The R.M. Court sat on Tuesday, but the business was light, and presented nothing of public interest.
