THE WAIKATO HUNT CLUB RACES.

Tim third annual meeting held under the auspices of the above club will take place on Thursday next at the Gwynnelands racecourse, and judging by tlie prices realised for the privileges when offered by auction on Saturday, and the entries received, promises to surpass both its predecessors. “Hermit,” a contributor, says : “In looking over the list of entries, I think the fields may perhaps not quite equal those of last year in number, but in quality they are infinitely superior. Tlie following are the weights for the Hurdles and Steeplechase, as declared by the handicapper, Mr It. Kirkwood, last evening (Monday), Mr Weathsrill being unable to assist

I do not intend entering into details upon the handicap until the acceptances are in, but I think tlie production on tho whole will prove satisfactory, and Mr Kirkwood will no doubt be amply rewarded by nearly, if not all, accepting. The new totalisator manufactured by Mr J. U. Arnabuldi, of Cambridge, will be used, and will no doubt give every satisfaction. Mr W. T. Carr has already received a permit from tlie Colonial Secretary allowing the machine to be used, so the public will be to back their own opinions. Mr J. McNicol sold the privileges, and the following were the prices realised Cates, £2O, 11, Windsor: grand stand bar, £0 10s, C. 11. White ; horse paddock, £2 os, T. L. Cox ; cards, £1 7s (Id, J. S. Bond ; Good Templar’s booth, £1 2s (id, Mr Buckland ; making a total of £34 ss.
