REPLY TO "HARAPIPI."
TO TIIK EDITOK. Silt, —In his last letter “ Harapipi” say he gave logical reasons why a |ioor mat was not a lit pers«n to be a representative and asks why I do not refute these reasons Xow, the only reason he gives is *• thul bread and butter is of a nearer consequenci to a man than good or bad government, and he will so act, as to have his bread am butter.” Therefore I suppose he thinks.' poor man does not deserve bread am hotter. He says he wants the franchise P be so that classes cannot dominate over an other. Now, I think that is just what wi have. Kvery man has a vide, and is there fore able to take care of his own interests lint, on the other hand, if yon do awai with manhood suffrage, you leave the pom at. the mercy of the rich. Surely ‘‘llara pi pi ” does not think that because a mat lias 110,000 he must ha fair and just in al his dealings. And yet he says “ that m matter who stood for Waipa, and no mattei where he came from, if he was wort! £IO,OOO, I would vote for him.” Then it ithe money lie votes for, not the man.—l am, yours truly, TiAIIOIHEIt. Te Asvamntu. September 2(ith.
