INCENDIARISM AT WHATAWHATA.
A DASTAniit.Y outrage, was committed bore, last Wednesday night by which the house of Mrs Richards was burnt to the ground. This is the second house belonging to Mrs Richards which has boon burnt within a fortnight. Mrs Richards who is at present residing in Hamilton, left Whatawhata some little time ago, intending to return in the summer, leaving her houses locked up, and a lot of clothes, bacon and'other goods in the one that has been burned last. When the first lumse was burned it was thought to be the result of accident, but there was no possibility of the last fire taking place accidentally. There are evidently some jail birds about, no doubt the police will thoroughly investigate the matter. The settlers who are very indignant about the affair, will do all in their power to assist them in bringing the offenders to justice. Much sympathy is felt for Mrs Richards, who has been left quite destitute by this cowardly outrage.
