THE WAITOA GOLD DEPOSIT.

Mr <7. B, Smith, of Waitoa, has returned from Christchurch, accompanied by a few southern people desirous of inspecting the auriferous portion of his property. Arrangements are now in progress for a trial of the gold-bearing deposit on a much larger scale than before, and in a more practical manner. Fifty tons of the stuff will shortly be sent to the New Fra mill at Waiorongomai, the method of treatment adopted there, being considered better suited than the ordinary battery appliances for dealing with such stuff. The result of this trial will he looked forward to with much interest.
