MURDER BY MOONLIGHTERS

A teleuham from Castleisland states that recently a party of Moonlighters visited the house of Farraufore, between Tralee and Castleisland, and inquired for Jeremiah Hurley, who was in her employ. They were admitted to the room where Hurley was sleeping, and they immediately dragged him out of bed and fired several shots at him, killing him almost instantly. Seven bullets entered his body in different parts. The murderers then decamped. About four months ago Burke, the widow’s husband, was found dead under a cart, and suspicious of foul play were entertained. It was said that Hurley gave information to the police in connection with the affair, and that accounts for his assassination. Another statement is that Hurley himself was suspected to have had a hand in the murder of Burke, ami that his death was an act of retaliation. As soon as the Moonlighters had left the widow's house a priest was sent for, ami arrived just before Hurley breathed bis last. The police at Farreufore were also communicated with, and went in search of the murderers. Two young men were arrested at their houses on suspicion early the next morning.
