EXTRAORDINARY CRIME.
The body of a young man named Thomas Burke was found recently in the canal at Galway. The deceased had a dispute with bis father and sister ab-mt some land. He wished that either the si-tv, or father, who is a widower, should get married, so that he might receive hi- pirtiou in order that he might marry ; but to this the father objected. On Wednesday be received a cheque from his father for £4O to make some purchases. In the course of the day a dispute arose be tween them, and Thomas remained away till late at night. Ho went to his uncle's house, where he was refused admission, and then iiFa fit of rage he returned to his father's house, to which he set fire. It is stated that he remained watching the fire in the hope of seeing the inmates burned ; but when he found that his father and •sister had escaped, ha returned to to Galway, jumped over the railing into the canal, and was drowned. The deceased is believed to have been insane. Hifather states that a large number of bank notes were burned in the flames.
