THE PROPOSED VOLUNTEER CORPS FOR HAMILTON.

Wk are glad to learn that a communication was received yesterday from the Defence Office, Wellington, aecopting the services of those who have given in their names to serve as volunteers. Mr Reid is now in communication with Col. Lyon, the commanding officer of the district, and we may now consider the matter settled. Great credit is due to His Worship the Mayor of Hamilton for tho trouble he has taken to place the young men of Hamilton on an equal footing with those of other parts of the colony. Now Mr Reid has tho matter fairly in hand, no time will be lost in bringing the arrangements to a close. A meeting will be called at an early date.
