R.M. COURT, CAMBRIDGE.
Yesterday. — (Before Captain Jackson, R.M., and the Mayor (Mr Gwynneth). H. Ashkk v. Hote Thompson.—Judgment summons for £16. Mr Dyer for plaintiff asked for the case to be adjourned until the next court day.—The R.M. : This case seems to have been adjourned from timeto time for some years. When it it likely to end ? Mr Dyer: It has been adjourned many times. It is a case in which Mi , Keesinpf was engaged until he left the town, and I believe commenced in 1879. If your worship will grant the adjournment I think I shall have all necessary proof by that date.—The R.M.: As my predecessor has granted so many adjournments I cannot refuse, but trust it will be settled next court day. You will please notify the defendant to appear, or he may think the case will be adjourned until his death takes place.—Mr Dyer : I will, if possible, your worship, but the defendant is a native who moves about a good deal, and is therefore difficult to find. W. Kincaid v. K. Bailey.—Claim £24 lGs 3d. Defendant did not appear. Verdict for plaintiff for the amount claimed and 40s costs.
C. Craig v. M. Morri.sky.—Claim £4 10s. Plaintiff deposed : I am a tailor in Cambridge. I know the defendant. I made a suit of clothes for his son, who is about 17J years of age. Defendant gave the order, and I held him responsible. I entered it in the books against the father (defendant.) I asked him for the money, and he said: "I could go and fish for it." I have never sent an account to the son. He came with the son, and said he would be responsible.—Michael Morrisey, the defendant, deposed: Never directly or indirectly had he stated he should pay for the clothes. His son was 21 years of age, and was earning Gs a day by working at Fencourt. He should never think of paying for anything his son had, he had quite enoufrfit to do to pay for his own. The court waited while Mr Craifj fetched his books, which, up being brought into court, showed the amount entered as being charged to the son. Plaintiff was nonsuited, with 5s costs.
