LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS.

[by telegraph.—PßESS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, Wednesday. The new police regulations appear to-night as a supplement to the Gazette. Mr Jellicoe, solicitor, to-day swore an information against Mr Peat (representing himself as a Scottish solicitor), with having threatened to take his (Mr Jellicoe's) life, saying he would " knife " him. _ Peat is a most eccentric character. During a recent ease, in which he was defendant, he was subjected to a severe cross-examination by Mr Jellicoe, and it is believed since this he has harboured a feeling of revenge. Peat is now undergoing imprisonment for debt, and will be brought before the magistrate when released.
