THE HAMILTON CHRISTMAS CARNI VAL

No ONE who piys a visit to tho Oddfellows' Hall juat now cm fail to bo struck with tho magnitude of the preparations going on there. Tho large hall and its annexe, now completed, are almost rilled with material for the decorations, the buildings, the pantomime, and the other entertain ments to be given next week. The facades of several of the stalls are already in position, and very pretty indeed they look, but they form a mero fragment of the whole display. Dresses, swoid-*, crown*, spears, scenery and all manner of things pertainmg to tho sock and buskin are to bo seen everywhere, even tho clown's Haulages are on hand already, while a pjcp into the spacious dr s.ing rooms iweals no end of ghnt and o»re faces horrible to look upon. The grand >mny of assistants will mike a determined attack upon the mass of material to-day, with, we have no doubt, very appreciable results. The stage has been futbished up, and has now assumed something of its pristine glory. The rehearsals are proceeding briskly, and everything points to a successful result. The comic cricket m\tch is to bo something the like of which has never yet been seen in the Waikato, while the procession on Monday afternoon, in which the maypole childi en and the cricketers 'will take part, headed by the Hamilton Band in their .smart new uniforms, will bo worth remembering. We direct, the the special attention of our readers in various parts of the district to the railway arrangements which will be found fully detailed in an advertisement in another column. It will be seen that it is possible to visit tho show and inspect its many features and return home the same day. With fine weather there will doubtless be a large crowd of visitors in Hamilton during the first three days of next week.
