HAMILTON WEST SCHOOL Two Pleasing Ceremonies.

Miss Bessie Murray, daughter of the respected head in vter of the above school, has severed her connection with the school, where she has taught for several year.s with much credit to herself and advantage to her pupils, in order to enter upon a course of in study in the Training College. Her pupils the Fourth Standard took advantage of the brealrinjr-up on Monday to present Miss Murray with a very handsomo silver bracelet. The presentation was made on behalf of the children by Mrs W. A. Graham. Miss Murray carries with her the best wishes of the whole school.

Further evidence of the pleasant relationships subsisting between the teaching staff of the school and the pupils was furnished last night. Mra Murray also leaves the school this term, and advantage was taken by the pupiH of the large gathering at the Mayoress' party in the Public Hall to present her with some tangible token of tnrir esteem and regard. The gift took the form of » beautifully designed afternoon tea service, accompanied by an illuminated address. The presentation was made by Miss Alice Sandes. The address was as follows :—: — Hamilton, 10th December, 1886. Dear Mrs Murray. We, the pupils of the Hamilton West School, hope that you will accept this small token of our affection and esteem for you in memory of the many pleasant days we have spent together. On behalf of the school, we are ever your affectionate friends. — Gertrude Graham, Alice Sandes, Helena Joxes, Kate Jolly. Mr John Knox, hon. sec. of tho School Committee, in the absence of Mr Murray, responded on behalf of Mrs Murray, and took occasion to express the regret felt by the committee and the parents of the children on the loss of the most practical teacher the school had ever had. The children then gave hearty cheera for Mrs Murray, and the proceedings terminated.
