MATAMATA NEWS.

The day fixed for holding the annual race meeting of the Matamata Racing Club has been changed from the 27th December to the 28th December. This alteration has been made so as to meet the convenience of the railway authorities who found it impossible to run a special train to Matamata on the 27th December, owing to tho gieat call upon their rolling stock in and around Auckland on that day. On Tuesday, the 28th December, a special train will leave Hamilton at 9.50 a.m., connecting at Ruakura with the SJ.IS a.m. ordinary train from Cambridge, and at Mornnsvillo with the 5.20 a.m. ordinary train from To Aroha, calling at all intermediate stations, and reaching Matamata at 11.4") a.m. ; leaving Matamata again on the return journey at 3.25 p.m. The fare will be tho same as Saturday return, giving visitors an opportunity to have a run up the Thames valley, a distant view of the celebrated Wairiri waterfall, the highest in the Noith Island, and a good day's sport at a very small outlay. The Matamata Railway Station is within about 20 minutes drive fiom the hot springs, and Mr W. T. Firth is making arrangements to run coaches from tho stition to the spiings on arrival of the train. Everything will be done to make visitors* computable, and it will be a grand opportunity for a day's outing. —(Own Correspondent, November ISth, 1880.)
