CAMBRIDGE DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
A mkkting of the committee of the above school was held at the Criterion Hotel on Wednesday evening. Present :— Messrs Sargent (chairman), Russell, Hewitt, and the Rev. Rishworth. After the minutes had been duly confirmed, letters were received from the Education Board, in which they notified that Mr Hill had been removed to Taotaoroa, and Mr F. Gaudin had been appointed pupil teacher. A resolution was passed, recommending the board to have the old school repainted, and offering £l*> towards the cost of doing it. It was resolved to ask the board to grant £3 to enable a truant inspector to be appointed for tho Cambridge 'district. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to Mr Hewitt for his kindness in having allowed the committee to meet at his hotel. It was resolved that from October Ist to March 31, afternoon school begin at 2 p.m. instead of 1.30 p.m., and that Friday next be a holiday to enable the school sports to be held. A resolution was passed urging the board to appoint an assistant master at an early date. The following accounts were passed : — Hogan, £2; Smerdon, 7s. Cd ; Fogarty, fis. This concluded the business.
