PRESENTATION TO MR HENRY REYNOLDS.

As our readers aro aware, Mr Henry Reynolds has retired from the managership of the VVaikato Land Association's Estate, a position which he has occupied from the commencement of the reclamation of that property, and now having pur chased a portion of it, some 1000 acres with the Newstead homestead, has settled down to cultivate his own property. From the first Mr and Mrs Reynolds have made the comfort and prosperity of the numerous employes on the estate a matter of kindly consideration, and it is scarcely to be wondered at that the latter have taken the opportunity of Mr Reynolds severing his connection with them to make a suitable acknowledgment of their esteem and gratitude. The presentation was made privately at Mr Reynold's express wish when consulted in the matter, but it is at least due to the donors that it should be suitably acknowledged publicly as well as it was no doubt privately by Mr Reynolds himself. The clock is ©f handsome black marble, designed to represent the fa§ade of an ancient fane or temple, and in it is let a small silver plate containing a short inscription with the date, stating that it has been presented by the employes of the Waikato Land Association to Mr Reynolds. The address itself is an elaborate work of art, beautifully illuminated by Mr B. L. Radford, of Auckland,, the scroll work being particularly noticeable for its elegance and the harmony of the colouring, and having at the foot of it a small photographic sketch of the Woodlands homestead as a memento of the recipient's old residence. The address itself is as follows :— Waikato Land Associatian Limited, To Henry Reynolds Esq., Dear Silt,— On the occasion of your retiring from the management of the Waikato Land Association's Estate, we desire, as representing those who hkve been employed under you, to express our recognition of your uniform kindness and consideration. We have found you an upright, just master, and those who have been privileged with lengthened employment on the Association's Estate cannot too warmly record their gratitude for all the efforts of yourself and Mrs Reynolds hot qnly to make the employes comfortable but the desire you ha\ 0 both show, and the untiringn kindly service given specially by Mrs Reynolds to promote in every possible way our prosperity and our enjoyment in our hours of relaxati in. Wishing yourself and your wife long life and every success in your new sphere. — We remain, Dear Sir, Yours very truly.— Signed by :— Wm. Ede, Geo. Powell, W. H. Gfeake, L>. Christian, Jas.
