PROPOSED FARMERS' LEAGUE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin,— How is it that while all classes of the community, even down to the labourer, are wisely forming societies to watch over and protect their interests, our agri* cultures, who, if united, are strong enough to rule the country, have literally no organization whatsoever for self-defence ? They have lately formed a very powerful "Farmer.-.' League" in the south, and if some public spirited man m Waikato would take the matter up, ho would undoubtedly be cheerfully supported. In speaking of the Southern League, the manager of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association said last week that he only wished that we had some such institution in the North.* Trusting that you will call attention to this important question, — I am, yours obediently. K. L>. L. IJuffi's.
