A mbktinu of the shareholders of the South Biitish Insurance Company was held to-dijy, a Christchurch resident and shaioholder being in the chair. The following irsolutions were carried: — "That a defecate ha appointed to proceed to Auckland to confer with the directors as to the piesunt unsatisfactory state of the company's business, and to lay before' them tho shareholder's views ; (2) that it be a icumimend.\tio!i to the directors to close .ill business in England, both fire and marine, except buch as is connected with Australia ; (3) that the same course be adopted with the eastern trade ; (4) that no now agencies be opened in foreign countries; (."») that competent inspectors be appointed with the view of having all risks estimated and surpervised; ((5) that no further issue of shares be made ; (7) that the delegate obtain full information as to how the capital reserve funds are invested.
