Auckland, Wednesday, Night. The steamer Hannah Mokau has become a total wreck at Whakatane.
Pilfering Letters^ Honry John Humphveys,a boy nine years old, has been committed for trial on a charge of pilfering letters out of private boxen.
The Unemployed.Several hundred of the unemployed have carried resolutions, asking the Government to set apart blocks along the railway lines, where the unemployed could gain a living, and establish homesteads.
The Whaler Alaska. The whaler Alaska, which recently arrived from Russell, was ready to leave for that port again yest«rday, but was detained by the Customs authorities there, it having been alleged that whilst at the Chatham Islands she landed a quantity of goods upon which duty had not been paid. The vessel will remain in port pending further instructions from Wellington.
