NEW ZEALAND AT THE COLONIAL EXHIBITION. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, Thursday. Thk following cables were read in the House this afternoon regarding the accusation of mismanagement against the New Zealand officials at the London Exhibftion :—: — " From the Treasurer to the AgentGeneral.— Exhibition.— Reflections made on New Zealand Court, such as inferior to othor colonies ; n t worthy colony ; thiidrate muaeutn ; Buller'u collection over prominent ; too much natural history ; inadequate mentioned useful production? ; gold obelisk desirable ; timber not received justice. Advise what, if any, truth these statements ; also general estimates New Zealand Court. Do you think desirable do anything ?" " From Agent-General to Treasurer.— Exhibition. — Have summoned Commissioners to consider mes"<ag«, but meanwhile rest assured that such sweeping detraction not merely without warrant but pntirely contrary to general verdict, and really quite ridiculous. None of Courts comparable Canada, but yours compares well with Australian, having regard to materials at Hanst's command." The reading of the above message was received in the House with applause.
