reuter's teleurams. London, July 8. Tifrc latest li.-t of thp competed elections shows 210 Conservatives, 47 Unionists, 121 (lladstonites, and 55 Parnellites returned. The L\ber.il candidates for West Ham (E<sex), and Accrington and Southport (Lancashire) have been defeated by Conservatives; while a supporter of Mr Gladstone has been returned for Carmarthen. Conservatives have been elected for the following seats held in the last Parliament by Liberals :— Newport, Shropshire : Nunuatoii, Warwickshire, Frome, Somersetshire ; and the following divisions of South-east Loncashire:— lieywood, Middleton, Cadclitfe, Stratford, and Prestwick jfoi the remaining divisions for South-east Lancashire, Westhoughton and Eccles, Conservatives, have b-ien re-elected. The Gladstonitoß secured seats for Elgin and Montgomery, and the Conservatives for the following divisions of North Lancashire: — North Lonsdule, Lanea»»ter »ud Choriey. Sir William Cmssmati, Liberal, has been re-olected for Portsmouth, tho other seat being also secured. Mr Samuel Wilson Waddy. Q.C., who un«ucue*sfully contested North Islington at the l.i^t general elections, has been returned in the Liberal interest for Brigg, Lincolnshire, in the place of Sir H. M. Thompson. London, July 7. A Gladstonite was elected for Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, in place of Provost Stuirnck, Conservative. Mr Thomas Sexton (Nationalist) ousted Mr Haslett (Conservative) for West Belfast. Conservative candidates have been elect9d to former Liberal seats for Wisbeach, Cambridgeshire, Stratford -on - Avon, Leominster, and Carnarvon, held by Mr Kigby, Lord William Compton, Mr Duckham, and Mr Jonas Parry respectively. Mr Shaw Lefevre (Liberal) has been re-elected for Central Bradford. Mr Osborne Morgan, TJnder-Secretary for the Colonies, was re-elected for East Denbigh by a very small majority only.

So far as the elections in the English boroughs have gone, 143 Tories have been elected, 22 Unionists, and 00 GladstonThe Pull Mall Gazette says that Mr Gladstone's defeat is becoming a rout. Mr Goschen has been offered a seat in Cornwall, and another has been offered to Sir Thomas Brassey. Mr Justin McCarthy was defeated for Londonderr}' by three votes, not returned as was stated in a previous cablegram. The error aroae out <i£ a telegraphic mistake.
