His Excellence the Governor has received a telegram from Lord Granville, Secretary of State for the Colonies, informing him that Her Majesty's Government have deferred sending a. definite reply to the proposals of France regarding the occupation of the New Hebrides, until they are in receipt of despatches from various Coloninl Governments, setting forth their views in the matter.
