Wellington', Friday. The Gazette notifuv. the appointment of Dr. Bealo as an additional public vaccinator for the Auckland district, and Dr. March for the Hamilton dlstiict. Mr J. M. Eraser has lieen authorised to act a* native interpreter under the Native Land Com t Act. Mr Durrieu has been appointed auditor fovthe County of Oliinemuri. Mr John Ortusby. of Rupim, has been appointed assessor of the Native Land Court and native assessor under tho Resident Magistrate's Act. The Hinemna was to have been despatched to Kawhia for Tawhiao, but Mr Ballance received a message from the "King" that hi* eldest son was dying, and tlmt he will be precluded from visiting Wellington at present. Tawhiao's me^ages are couched in most friendly language. He expresses a desire that the disturbances between the European aud Native population should b« at an end.' It is understood that Mr Bryce will be formally requested to undertake the leadership of the Opposition. At the City Council Chambers this morning the Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Wellington, presented Mr Bryce with an address of welcome. Mr Bryce suitably replied. He will be entertained at luncheon next Saturday on his return from Wanganui.
