The ichool committee election came off on Tuesday evening last, at the Paeroa ■chool. Some washing of not too clean linen took place at the preliminary meeting of householders, and those present were ■plit up into three or four faction?. There were thirteen candidate?, viz., Messrs C. F. Mitchell, J. Lipsey, A. Shepherd, F. Cock, 0. Meredith, Jno. Ralph, Edwin Edwards, S. Farmer, J. McWilliams, Jno. Loghrey, Coote, T. Logan, and E. M. Corbett, and there was a considerable •mount of excitement shown by the partuana. Finally Messrs Corbett, Lipsey, Cock, Logan, Edwards, Farmer, and Coote were elected in the order named. About 80 informal votes were polled, one gentleman, who was first favourite, lost 33 by informalties, which just had tho effect of altering his place from the top of the successful candidates to the top of tho unsuccessful. Messrs Lipsey and Edwards were afterwards elected chairman and secretary respectively.
