LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS. [ BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday.
Inspector Sherman received a telegram this afternoon to the effect that A. B. Renton, charged with forging a cheque for £60 on the New Zealand Mercantile and Loan Company, Wellington, had been arrested in Christchurch. The ship Oamaru, i)S days out from London, and bound for this port, was spoken by Captain Fairchild in the straits this morning. All on board were well. The Hinemoa will leave for Onelmnga to-morrow night for the purpose of bringing down Northern members for the meeting of Parliament on the 13th instant. Mr H. Bunny, Commissioner of the West Coast Natives Reserves, returned to Wellington this morning from Greymouth to consult with the Government on several important matters connected with the settlement of questions at issue. He returns to Greyraouth this evening. At the meeting of the shareholders m th« Caswell Sound Marble Company the resolution in favour of winding up the company was confirmed, and tenders arc to be invited for the purchase of the plant.
