NATIVE NEWS. [ FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Alexandra, Thursday.
The native meeting is still dragging on at Kopua. Any chance of the various claimants to portions of the block intended to be put through the Land Court, to get their titles individualised by the assistance of the Native Committee of the district, is, I am of opinion, hopeles*. In consequence of the intense jealousy amongst themselves Wahanui and his party have given the meeting best, and he is now staying at his house here. The Native Committee .vnd a number of natives are, however, a& I have already stated, continuing the meeting. The proceedings I do not think would hi of general interest, s» I ha>ve refrained from making lirepoit. \ Tawhiao left last jveek for Manukau and Auckland, and will have, if possible, an interview with Sir George Grey. As he ib very anxious on the subject, ha will probably go on to Te Kawau.
