LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS.
[BY TELKGIUPH.— PBESB ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. It is stated that tlio M.ini.ipoto, and several other leading tribes have consented to apply to the Native Laud Court to ascertain titles now claimed by them. The Governor is expected to arrive here about tho middle of next week. The steamer Taupo. which went ashore near Ginborne, is valued at £22,000, and is in-mred for about three-fourths her value. In the magistrate's court a charge of alleged perjury against W. F. Ross was dismissed, the prosecution offering no evidence. A young man named P. H. Dod, lately in the employ of Lyon and Blair, stationers, was arrested this afternoon, charged with forging the firm's signature f<«r several amount*. The Hinemoa left for Lyttelton, to-day, and returns with a quantity of Government rolling stock for here.
