DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT CRANSTOUN.

A destructive fire occurred on Tuesday night at the Cranstoun Estate, Paeroa, by which the homestead, an eleven-roomed house, was totally destroyed. The house had been unoccupied for about a fortnight, but np to six o'clock in the evening everything wiw safe. On the following morning there was nothing but a heap of ruins remaining. It is strongly suspected to be the work of an incendiary, though nothing as yet is known as to the origin of the calamity. There were 200 sack* «f oats in the building at the time, which were also destroyed. The premises were insured in the New Zealand Insurance office, but we have not been able to ascertain for wh.it amount.
