FRANCE AND THE NEW HEBRIDES. [RKUTER'S TELEGRAMS.]
London, April 23. Sir Andrew Clark*:, acting AgentGeneral for the colony of Victoria, has received a despatch from Earl Granville, Secretary of State for the colonies, confirming the previous declaration that France had deferrnd any action with reg.ird to the New Hebrides until replies had been received to the telegrams addressed by the Colonial Office to thu various colonial Governments asking their view on the matter. Earl Granville ha» nlso stated that the Governments in question had been requested to furnish their replies l>oforo the end of April. Earl Granville has received an answer from the Hon. Mr Gillies, Premier of Victoria, which confirms his adherence to the views proponed in a telegram already sent by Mr Griffiths Premier of Queensland, which stated that the federated colonies btiongly objected to any alteration in the status quo with regard to the New Hebrides.
