TE WHITI IN A NEW CHARACTER. He Defies the Civil Law. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] New Plymouth, Friday.

In the District Court Te Whiti was summoned for a debt of £125 due to John Stitt, storekeeper, Opuuakft. Te Whiti did not appear, and judgment was given for the amount claimed. Tho evidence given in the case shows that Te Whiti .evidently means to defy the law, as he has sufficient money to pay the debt, but refused point blank to do so. Some important development is looked forward to when a warrant of distress is issued against him.
