Licensing Matters. Auckland, Fiiday Night. The City North Licensing Committee have agreed to the .suggestion of the publicans 1 counsel to test the question before the Resident Magistrate whether any room in which liquor is sold is a bar. The petition of the Temperance Committee for the scrutiny of City South polling is supported by such strong grounds as it is believed will cause the disqualification of a large number of votes for the publicans' ticket, and put nil the temperance men in.

Death ot Engine-driver Bracewell. John Bracewell, the engine-driver who was injured by a fall from tho train on February Ist, died to-day.

Wholesale: butter prime fresh, 8d; butter salt, 9d to lOd ; cheese, good factory, 6Jd to 6d; Canterbury, none ; eggs, Is; lard in bladders, (i^d to G^d ; bacon and hams in cloth, provincial, Gid to BJd ; hams, BJd to 9Jd.
